Sciatica

Sciatica

Sciatica is an inflammation of the largest nerve in the body, the sciatic nerve. Being such a large nerve, almost as big as a quarter, it can be very painful, and can cause numbness, tingling, weakness,  a burning, or stabbing pain, going down the leg or the thigh. By getting things functioning better in the spine, you can take pressure off the sciatic and nerves that travel down the leg, and relieve the pain. This is done through various means including decompression therapy, flexion distraction techniques and other generally very painless procedures to take the pressure off of the nerve, and allow for more normal healing of that nerve.  We then come up with a plan along with adjustments to help eliminate the sciatic problem, and give patients the tools they need to keep the problem in check.
